Well WindowsXP alone will take a little ober 2GB. When checkin by folders you must remember that there are a lot of hidden files that most likely wont show on the total amount of space used.

well where could the hidden files be? how could I delete or see it?

Could part of it could be the pagefile...?

what's pagefile?

aka Virtual memory... When your computer uses harddrive space as RAM. (Usually happens when progs call for more memory than your comp has)

how can I delete these files? I don't think I need it, I have 512mb of DDR RAM

You can change the size in Control Panel/System/Advanced/Performance/Settings/Advanced/Virtual Memory....I do not recommend you change it since you know nothing about it and I certainly don't recommend to anyone that they disable 'Pagefile'

but that's only less than a gb where can the other 2 gb went? hidden file? how can I view it?

Well, if im not mistaken, (could easily be) most Harddrives capacity is lower than what the label says, regardless of which OS you are running/if you run one at all.

For example...My HDD is 30gb, but it only shows 26.4 GB
